Bridgewater State University
Bridgewater State University was established in 1840 as Bridgewater Normal School. After shortly adding State to the name, Bridgewater State Normal School opened its new school building in 1846. The school gained college status in 1932, and in 1937, the college began offering Master of Science in Education. The college underwent another name change in 1960, becoming Bridgewater State College. The college finally attained university status in 2010.
Bridgewater State University today has over 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students. In addition to over 95 student clubs and organizations, students can be involved on campus by being involved in leadership programs, or being involved in various student run media that includes a newspaper and radio station.
