Brenau University was founded in 1878 as the Georgia Baptist Female Seminary. In 1900, the institution became known as Brenau College, and it gained university status for the academic year 1992/1993. With its main campus in Gainesville, Georgia, it also operated campuses in Augusta, Norcross and Fairburn. More recently, Brenau also added a campus in Jacksonville, Florida.
Brenau University has an annual enrollment that reaches almost 3,500 students that represent 40 states in the US, and 23 countries from around the world. Brenau has many ways that students can be active, The Center for Greek Life and Campus Traditions offers nearly 50 clubs and organizations. The Campus Activities office provides comedy shows, as well as invite motivational speakers. The office of International Studies not only assists international students, but also assists Brenau students who wish to enroll in a study abroad program.
