Boston College

School Description

Boston College was founded in 1863 by the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) to educate Boston’s then predominantly Irish, Catholic immigrant community. It opened its doors on September 5, 1864. Boston College’s academic and societal mission is drawn from the University’s distinctive religious and intellectual heritage.

Over time the College has developed its reputation internationally. With its exceptional faculty and research centers, the college has produced outstanding alumni who have grown as professionals in their respective fields; these include: John F. Kerry, US Secretary of State; Kevin Allocca, Head of YouTube Culture and Trends, Google and Chuck Hogan, Novelist, among others.
