School Description

Wofford was founded with a bequest of $100,000 from the Rev. Benjamin Wofford (1780–1850), a Methodist minister and Spartanburg native who sought to create a college for "literary, classical, and scientific education in my native district of Spartanburg. Wofford sits on 170 lush acres part of the Roger Milliken Aboretum, and nearly 5,000 trees have been planted there since 1992. Nearly 20% of alumni have positions in senior management of companies or organizations, and almost 40% of alumni have donated to their alma mater.
