          • Testimony
            1965-1969, BA, English and Music

I loved the setting on Cayuga Lake, the size (close to 600 when I entered), the quality of the faculty, and the one-on-one attention afforded by the faculty. And Wells came highly recommended by my cousin Sue Getzendanner Wells'64, whom I greatly admired. I enjoyed exploring a variety of subjects in the arts while at Wells--most especially music, the fine arts, music and my major field of English. Wells became my first employer after graduation and for several years thereafter. I worked in the offices of Admissions, Dean of Students, and Finance as comptroller. Wells provided me with an excellent set of professional experiences that enabled me to serve Ithaca College in the 80's and 90's as assistant vice-president and treasurer. I treasure my years at Wells College.

          • Testimony
2001-2005, Bachelor of Arts (BA), Performing Arts with a concentration in Music

Wells College holds a very special place in my heart... This college is a remarkable place to pursue a Bachelor's Degree and grow into young adulthood. You not only learn the aspects of your chosen major, but you gain a respect for knowledge and the pursuit of lifetime learning. Small class sizes and the accessibility of faculty and staff contribute to a truly unique experience that not many colleges can offer anymore. I received a BA in Music/Performing Arts and was very fortunate to have an amazing artist as my professor, adviser and mentor. If I needed help on an assignment, I knew that I could get help from faculty at almost anytime and that is truly unique to Wells. I am heartbroken to hear that the music program has almost disappeared, but I can't say I am surprised due to the politics surrounding that department during my time there. I am, however, impressed with the growth and prosperity of my Alma Mater. The addition of the science building, new curriculum and a growing career services department can only help to strengthen the positive future for Wells. It is also located in a small piece of Heaven right on Cayuga Lake. I found the serene environment perfect for learning, although I know that many people couldn't understand why I chose to go to college "in the middle of nowhere". This might not appeal to everyone, but I found this remote, beautiful location very peaceful. I still visit as often as I can so that I can enjoy the serenity in this chaotic world. I highly recommend Wells College. It is a very wonderful place that I was lucky to call home for 4 years of my life.
