University of Nevada, Reno - Bachelor's Degree

University of Nevada, Reno is a public research university located in what's famously known as 'The Biggest Little City in The World'. The university offers a wide range of degrees at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level. The university consists of 10 colleges and schools that include; Biotechnology and Natural Resources; Engineering; Journalism; Liberal Arts; and the Division of Health Sciences.

School Description

University of Nevada, Reno was established in 1874 as the State University of Nevada in Elko, Nev. The university moved to Reno in 1885, and in 1891, it presented its first diplomas to a graduating class of just three. In the early 1900's, the university was influenced by John Mackay, an Irish immigrant whose heirs bequeathed more than 1.5 million dollars towards many campus facilities that included the Mackay School of Mines building, and the Mackay Science Hall. The picturesque campus attracted Hollywood producers in the 1940's, who used the campus as a setting for films starring famous stars Shirley Temple, and Mickey Rooney.

University of Nevada, Reno has over 18,000 students, with more than 250 clubs and organizations. The university also has the Center for Student Cultural Diversity, which celebrates the diversity of the university campus, and offers opportunities for student involvement, support, networking and social interaction. Living in the city of Reno can be an exciting prospect for potential students. Situated at the base of Sierra Nevada, Reno is close to Sacramento, and San Francisco. Students living there can enjoy outdoor activities and a variety of festivals and events.
