          • 2004-2014, M.A., Liberal Studies (concentration in Environmental Studies)

An Excellent Program for Coming in Sideways

As a former high school English teacher, I vowed to NEVER take another education class again. Instead, I enrolled in the MALS program and concentrated on enviromental studies and ecology. [Pause for the sound of a mind being blown] I learned so much and found such a rich repository of knowledge that has practical aspects. As a result of my time in MALS I now maintain a blog about getting to know the flora and fauna of your neighborhood and wrote an ecology handbook for my Master's project. If you're looking to truly stretch yourself academically and discover disciplines that might change your life, consider enrolling in a school at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

            Great School - Great Attitude!

UM-D has a small school feel with big results. The alumni are always willing to look out for each other in job hunts, mentoring or just volunteering. I was elected to the Alumni Board and proudly help as many new grads as I can. Commuting or living in the new dorms is possible. Professors know many students work, and I believe they show/teach more real life examples of what they are teaching. It is an awesome school that I am happy to recommend to everyone.
