Saint Leo opened again as a college in 1959, receiving assistance from the Benedictine sisters at Holy Name Monastery, its neighboring community. Growth continues rapidly at St. Leo, and on August 24, 1999, Saint Leo was upgraded from "college" to "university" status. Lee Marvin, Bob Tewksbury, and Anastasio Somoza Debayle are some of the most notable alumni.

Excellent Adult Learning (Online) Opportunities! As the mother of three sons, I had the opportunities to earn my Master's Degree while I continued to work and care for my growing family. I took advantage of the summer/week-long symposiums and online coursework and finished within two years! I received support through classroom hours, discussion boards, email and even phone calls. Assistance was always near and expertly administered. SLU is an excellent educational organization!
