School Description

Moravian College was founded on a revolutionary idea: that learning should be eye opening, heart racing, game changing and—most important—fun. When John Amos Comenius, a Moravian bishop, came up with that little theory all the way back in the 1600s, he probably didn't expect to have such a big impact. Turns out, we still agree with his philosophy. And we believe our students, like Comenius, can be a little revolutionary. They, too, can turn something seemingly small into something amazing, unimaginable, and bigger than themselves.

Founded in 1742, we’ve had 275 years to perfect our now unique, 21st century liberal arts education. We’re a pillar in our community, steeped in national history, and celebrated for our interdisciplinary approach to education. Our student body continues to greater represent our diverse global community, with 1600+ undergraduates hailing from 24 different states and 14 different countries. And with 80+ clubs and organizations (including several for international students), 55+ majors and programs, and a graduate school right here on campus, we give our students the means to create, improve, and grow. Our 172 faculty members are your advisors, sounding boards, and research partners. And with a 12:1 ratio of students to faculty, they’re readily available.

Bethlehem sits 90-minutes east of New York City, 60-minutes north of Philadelphia, five hours south of Boston, and right in the center of the culturally-vibrant Lehigh Valley.

Welcome to your small chance—we know you're ready to turn it into a big change. Go for it. Be a little revolutionary.

            Exceeds Expectations

The Moravian College community embraces students and treats you as a family member. Their roots go back to Comenius, the father of modern education, the supporter of lifelong education, and the creator of diversity in education by offering equal opportunity for impoverished children and the opening of doors through the recognition of the importance of women. I strongly recommend this college and its programs to all who desire to attend. Personally, I have attended Lehigh, Muhlenberg, University of Scranton, Penn State University and Moravian. The small class size and experienced faculty deserve special attention when considering the curriculum that meets your needs. Sit in a class and see if it fits before you make your decision on how a particular program measures up to your expectations!

Moravian - Preparing for Life through Knowledge

Moravian for me was not about books. It was about how to open one's mind to knowledge for life. Learning how to learn was my biggest takeaway and it has served me well throughout life. Whenever I needed knowledge the broad liberal arts critical creative thought and reasoning process I was exposed to at Moravian taught me how to know what I needed to know when I needed to know it. It is not what I learned at Moravian that mattered, it was the thinking process behind the learning that never became stale nor out of date and which enabled me to "refresh" my knowledge throughout life. May God bless Prof Stuart Kulp and may perpetual light shine upon him.
