Mercyhurst University, formally Mercyhurst College, is a fully accredited four-year liberal arts institution located in Erie, Pennsylvania in the United States. It offers students over 60 undergraduate majors and nine master’s degrees. The University has adopted the motto, “Carpe Diem” (Seize The Day) as inspiration for its students and faculty.

School Description

Mercyhurst University was founded in 1926 by the Sisters of Mercy. The school initially started out with just 23 students, all of whom were women. It eventually earned university status in 2012 owing to its standard of excellence. Mercyhurst University's renowned programs include applied politics, intelligence studies and hospitality management.

Today, Mercyhurst University has more than 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled. Its campus is spread across six blocks and is currently the biggest piece of unbroken real estate in Erie. At the heart of the campus is the Old Main, the English Gothic Structure dating back to 1926.
