Hamilton’s alma mater, “Carissima,” was written by President Melancthon Woolsey Stryker in 1901, and, upon his request, sung by mourners at his grave site on the day of his burial in 1929. The song replaced an earlier alma mater, “Cheer, Boys, Cheer,” set to the tune of an old English army song.

          • Testimony
            1979-1983, Bachelor's of Arts

The Hamilton I went to in the early 1980s has changed: alterations and additions to the campus, the programs and the curriculum. But what hasn't changed, what makes it an outstanding place to go is it's consistency and belief in what a liberal arts degree should offer and the environment required to bring out the best in the student lucky enough to be part of it.

          • Testimony
            1992-1996, BA

Everything you would want out of a leading American college: excellent education, fantastic faculty and a stupendous campus.

          • Testimony
            2001-2005, Bachelor of Arts

Hamilton College focuses on education, not on obtaining research grants. Because of this, they are able to challenge their students to produce graduate if not post-doctoral quality research and work. The Honor Code challenges students to behave as ethical adults, and every student I knew rose to that challenge. What's more: the faculty, staff, and administration are held to the same high standards as students. Faculty and college administrators are accessible, not surrounded by a wall of bureaucracy. If you want to continue to graduate school, attend Hamilton: you'll be more than prepared to succeed in your coursework, which will leave you the time you need to learn the administrative hoops and obstacle courses which other institutions put between students and academic success.
