Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University’s mascot ‘the Rattler’, is based on popular folklore. In 1891, the school moved to Highwood Plantation and the land around it was filled with rattle snakes and that’s how the name came to be.

        "The Best University ever"

Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University offered the best real life experiences an individual could have experienced. This great institution of higher education developed and equipped me into the woman I am today. I am so very THANKFUL that my father made it perfectly clear where his money was going to be spent.

        Experience

Even though I was a sealed architect, going back has given me the design experience I craved.

      • Testimony
        1991-1995, BS

Words cannot adequately express the love that I have for my beloved alma mater. I am a proud alum of this prestigious university and I credit the college of love and charity with preparing me for a purposeful and professional career. I graduated from FAMU in August 1995 with a BS in Accounting from the incomparable School of Business and Industry (SBI). To say that I was prepared for life after college is an understatement. More than anything, FAMU prepared me to thrive professionally and personally. The four years spent at FAMU (1991 - 1995) were among the best of my life. Friendships created continue to thrive. I love being part of the cult that is the legions of alumni who bleed orange and green.
