School Description

Dean College's history dates back to the year 1865 when it was founded by Dr. Oliver Dean as the Universalist Church and then Dean Academy, a residential school that provides education for boys and girls from New England and beyond. Through the years, the institution thrived and developed as the campus was expanded and enrollment grew. Finally in the 1990s, it became Dean College under the leadership of President Paula M. Rooney.

Today, its 100-acre tree-lined campu in Franklin, Massachusetts is home to 13 residence halls and enrolls up to 1,400 students representing 30 states and 26 countries. It currently offers bachelor's degrees in areas of arts & entertainment, business, communications, dance, English, history, liberal arts, psychology, security, sociology, sports management, and theatre.

    The Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management offers a strong foundation in every aspect of business, including marketing, accounting, finance, management, technology and consulting.

    At Dean, interaction with business leaders and study abroad opportunities are prevalent. In addition, work experience is embedded throughout our business classes. These experiences include the opportunity to engage in a consultancy project with local businesses to develop project management skills, resulting in a presentation of recommendations to the business that are often incorporated into that company's business model. Each student will also participate in at least one required internship experience with the opportunity to pursue additional internships in their area of focus if desired. When students leave Dean with these solid fundamentals, plus on-the-job experience and a command of technology, they are best prepared for success.
