Connecticut College - Bachelor's Degree
Connecticut College's history dates back to 1909 when Wesleyan University refused to offer admissions to women. As a result, many of the women at the time were looking to gain a higher education, and therefore a committee was formed to search for a suitable new site for a college. A hilltop in New London was chosen by the committee and a board of incorporators petitioned the State of Connecticut to open a college. The petition was granted in April 1911 and that’s how Connecticut College officially came into being.
Since its establishment Connecticut College has grown into a thriving private co-educational liberal arts college. The college attracts students by offering them rigorous academic programs and by fostering the intellectual, emotional, spiritual, creative and physical development of its students. At Connecticut College the students are provided with a close-knit environment as nearly 90% of them live on campus, and the staff, faculty and the students are dedicated to adhere to a system of governance. The college operates on the principle of 'shared governance', which means that the perspectives of all groups are kept in mind while making decisions.
