1978-1982, Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), American Studies and French

Colby College has played a big role in my life

I am so happy that I attended Colby and now my son is finishing his senior year there. It was the perfect college for both me and my son Craig. I made great friends, learned a great deal in and out of the classroom, and gained the confidence I needed to have a successful career and fulfilling life.

Great place to live and learn.I always tell high school students that they should pick a school not only for the academics but also for the environment and personality of the campus. They should pick a place they would want to live for four years. Colby was the perfect fit for me. I found I learned as much outside the classroom as within. While academically rigorous it is also peopled with accessible professors, down to earth students and friendly staff - all on a beautiful campus. The population is small enough that I always encountered familiar faces, yet large enough that it was also easy to make new friends. Those friends became friends for life. My comrades not only keep in touch via e-mail, but we gather every year or two for our own mini-reunions. Last year we rented a compound on Sebago Lake for a long weekend, and we'll be back again this fall. Colby has many assets, but the people are really what make it a special place.
