Program Description

With the 43-course hour history program, students graduate with an expansive knowledge of the history of many different world civilizations, as well as with the skills to analyze and asses historical information. During a student’s two years of specialized study, they can take part in many different internships and qualify for a potential teaching license within the state of Ohio.

Major requirements include courses in both world and U.S history. Students will dive into the past of Asian, African and European societies and look at their role in imperialism and colonialism. Topics such as trade, religion, government and arts across the world will also be analyzed. Students can also choose their electives among courses covering Latin American, women’s, Russian, Japanese, African American, Chinese and English history. Students are also required to complete 12 hours in a foreign language.

Capital University’s program also offers the chance to earn credits through local internships and individual study. After graduation, many students go into governmental work, education, archival work and graduate school.
