For students hoping to pursue careers in fields related to literary composition, Capital University offers a four-year BA in creative writing program that provides a broad foundation in literature and writing. This 48-credit program includes courses on literature analysis and writing workshops, as well as a senior capstone course in which students perform extensive research and analysis of literary works. The program will also provide a fundamental understanding of the editing and publishing process to set students up for success in a creative writing career.
Students in this program are encouraged to submit writing for publication in Capital’s student-led magazine, ReCap, in addition to participating in open readings by visiting authors. At the end of the program, students can expect to produce a portfolio of polished writings at a professional level that will help them prepare for graduate school or publication of their own works. This major also includes the option of completing the Adolescent to Young Adult Education licensure program for Integrated Language Arts, which prepares graduates to become licensed teachers for grades 7-12.Apply Now
