School Description

Bryn Mawr College traces its early beginning from the year 1885, when it first opened its doors to women who are in search for a more ambitious academic program than those previously offered in the country, making it the United States' first institution to offer women with fellowships for graduate study. In 1931, the college started accepting male students in its Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

Today, its campus in Bryn Mawr is home to 1,300 undergraduate women and over 400 coed graduate students representing 45 states and 62 countries across the globe. Bryn Mawr College currently offers over 80 undergraduate majors and minors in nearly 70 fields of liberal arts studies, and 9 graduate programs through 2 schools, namely: The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and The Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research.

Your daughter is more likely to major in science at a women's college.

At Bryn Mawr you get the strong message that the college is for YOU - from a strong faculty including women professors as role models to ready availability of research assistant positions -- a small women's college provides a nurturing environment full of opportunity. Bryn Mawr was a wonderful place to explore careers in science -- I got a lot of one-on-one attention from my professors that was so valuable!

            Scholars in a Stimulating Setting

Bryn Mawr has a beautiful campus. The professors are both brilliant scholars and effective teachers. I audited many art history and philosophy courses for fun, while I enrolled in the science, math, and economics courses I needed for a career. Acting, diving, and social week-ends balanced out the academics for me.
