School Description

Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) was initially established in the year 1967 by Act 403 of the Alabama Legislature. In March 1968, Dr. H. Hanly Funderburk, Jr., was appointed vice president and chief administrator of the newly created university. AUM began first classes at its campus located at old Alabama Extension Center on Bell Stree in 1969 with a batch of nearly 600 enrolled students. In January 2007, the university began branding itself as Auburn Montgomery and unveiled a new logo.

Today, AUM has received several ranks, achievements and honors which includes being ranked among the South’s top universities by U.S. News . AUM offers over 90 fields of study through its five academic schools namely; the College of Arts and Science, the College of Business, the College of Education, the College of Nursing and Health Science and the College of Public policy and Justice. AUM Housing and Residence Life offers students benefits such as being close to classes and activities, living and learning with friends, making better grades and getting involved in a community. AUM offers its students various on campus opportunities to get involved which include student government, fraternities and sororities, over 60 student clubs and organizations and intramural sports.
