French (Arizona State University)
Program Description
French is often considered one of the most beautiful languages spoken, and it is a common language around the globe due to the colonial history of France. With a 4-year degree in French, students are taught to master the language over the course of 120 credits of study, including both required program courses and general electives.
Students studying French may receive increased study in French history and culture in addition to courses on the French language. Students at Arizona State University will be asked to complete multiple years of increasingly complex study of the French language to progress toward a fluent understanding.
Graduates of a French degree program may be able to speak and understand French at a high level. This positions graduates for a variety of career opportunities, including teaching French, serving as a translator, or pursuing a job opportunity in a French-speaking country.
