English (Arizona State University)
A 4-year English program at Arizona State focuses on the fundamentals of the English language. It is a versatile area of study, applicable across a range of disciplines and featuring a variety of courses to help achieve the degree. Earning a Bachelor’s degree often requires students to complete 120-course hours during their time at the university.
There are three primary areas of focus in an English program – reading, writing and literature. Students may study great works from authors throughout history, with courses commonly focusing on a specific time period, style or group of authors. Students are also provided instruction in the crafting of their own pieces of literature, often being asked to apply principles learned from great works in their writing.
Graduates of English degree programs most commonly find a career in education, journalism and professional writing positions.
ASU's academic programs are spread across campuses in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area; however, unlike most multi-campus institutions, the campuses of ASU are all individually different- each has its own distinct function to fulfill in line with the university's mission.Read more About this school
