Communication (Arizona State University)
A student usually takes four years to complete a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in communication at Arizona State University. The school also offers an accelerated program that takes between 2.5 and three years to complete. This undergraduate degree teaches you how to speak and write effectively and convey complex ideas in an easy-to-understand manner. It also gives you tools to pursue a wide range of careers in areas such as counseling, marketing, public relations, event planning, campaign management, intercultural relations and more.
To graduate, you must have 120 credit hours for this major, 45 of them in the major field of study, as well as two of five areas of emphasis. These areas are civility, advocacy and engaging publics; communication, creativity and performance; workplace, organization and leadership communication; communication across cultures; and communications and healthy relating. Each emphasis area includes both required and elective courses from which to choose. For a BA, you must also complete second language courses.
