Russian Studies (American University)
Students with a passion for Russian language, literature, politics, or history may be interested in the Bachelor of Arts program in Russian Studies at American University. The program spans four years of study and includes fluency in the Russian language and a familiarity with Russian history, literature, philosophy, and culture.
Students in this program are also required to choose a minor or concentration to supplement their studies. Options for students include proficiency in a second foreign language, teacher certification courses, an approved related minor to further their chosen career, or additional upper-division classes within the major area of study.
The capstone project completed at the end of the degree is intended to help students demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have gained through their course of study. This may be a thesis appropriate for publication or a project approved by a faculty supervisor. The purpose of the capstone is to provide materials students may use to apply for graduate studies or work in their chosen field.
