Economics (American University)
A BA or BS program in Economics may be the perfect degree for anyone interested in going into a financial field. Future accountants, actuaries, financial analysts, educators, and CFOs find their place in this program, which covers both micro- and macroeconomics, comprehensive mathematics through calculus and statistics, and topics in accounting.
The four-year program requires 47 major course credit hours for the BS or 37 major credits for the BA, in addition to the university-required core curriculum. At the conclusion of the program, students complete a seminar and research capstone, possibly in conjunction with an internship, to demonstrate their proficiency in economic topics.
Motivated students may also consider applying for American University’s combined Bachelor’s and Master’s program, which enables the student to seamlessly complete their BS/BA and MA degrees. Admission to the combined program requires students to maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher in addition to regular program admission requirements.
