Art History (American University)
The four-year BA in Art History program provides students with the unique opportunity to study both in the classroom and in museums. In order to graduate, participants must have a total of 120 credit hours, 39 of which must be from the art history major course requirements list, which includes many electives, such as Italian Art, Modern European Art and Visual Arts in the United States.
One of the main advantages of this program is its proximity to so many renowned museums and art galleries, including the American University Museum. Students study everything from medieval art to renaissance pieces and many more. They are often able to go view these works of art in person, and many get the opportunity to intern at one of these museums.
The art history program helps students develop the skills needed to work in one of these prestigious museums, or even to become university professors. The small class sizes, faculty mentors and rigorous coursework make this a top choice for many individuals.
