Founded in 1916, Riverside City College (RCC) is a public community college in California. It is one of the most dynamic and diverse colleges in downtown Riverside with international students from over 50 countries. RCC offers a wide range of degree programs and certificates in liberal arts, science, nursing, the arts, and more.

Riverside City College

A campus setting for everyone

Riverside City College is located in the city of Riverside, California — with campuses in Moreno Valley and Norco. RCC has built a strong reputation for academic transfer programs and career technical certifications while being a part of the Riverside Community College District (RCCD).

Having a learner-centered philosophy, RCC provides quality and affordable education to students who want a smooth transfer to a four-year university. To drive students’ success, RCC fosters critical thinking, develops information competency and technological literacy, expands communication skills, and promotes self-development and global awareness.

Students can progress to universities like UCLA, Berkeley, UC Riverside, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, and Cal State San Bernardino after finishing associate degree programs at RCC. Alongside this, the college also offers industry-based certificate programs for Culinary Arts, Photography, Applied Digital Media, and Automotive Technology, among others.

RCC is also home to Gateway to College, a charter school that serves students who return to high school to earn their diploma. This provides them with access to better learning and personal development opportunities.

Integrated support services

RCC accepts thousands of students each semester. To help them get through the challenging yet immersive college life, it offers a wide range of auxiliary services including the Associated Students of Riverside City College (ASRCC), Community for Academic Progress (CAP), Disability Resource Service, Foster Support Services, and Health & Psychological Services. Each of these services is committed to helping students achieve their optimal goals — academically, emotionally, spiritually, and professionally.

Academic Support helps students meet their academic goals by providing free resources and services. The well-trained peer instructors uniquely address the diverse needs of students. At RCC, students are provided a haven for sexual orientation and gender identity issues. ALLY Programs support the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. ALLY trainings are offered at least once a semester with the tools and resources needed to become better allies to people within marginalized genders and sexualities.

RCC stands out

RCC has been active in cultivating camaraderie on campus and showing outstanding initiatives to the world. As recently reported, the University of Redlands (U of R), private liberal arts and professional university in Southern California, has partnered with RCC to create guided pathways to undergraduate and graduate programs for Riverside students and benefit-eligible employees. The partnership will provide a tuition fee discount to qualified RCC business students upon transferring into U of R’s School of Business.

Additionally, RCC’s college newspaper, Viewpoints, was ranked fourth among US community college newspapers. In March 2019, Viewpoints received the “Best of Show” award at the Associated Collegiate Press Midwinter National College Journalism Convention in La Jolla.

Beyond that, the Urban Farm at RCC has been a model for sustainable urban farming for several years now. It has received honorable mentions in the Exemplary Program Award by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors for its effort in environmental stewardship. The Farm’s production amounts to more than 200 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables which are distributed to those who are in need.
