Are you looking for a small, safe university with a dedicated faculty and an excellent academic record? Concordia University - Nebraska (CUNE) is located in Seward, Nebraska, in the United States with a town population of 7,000. It has been ranked the 19th safest campus in the US and the student-faculty ratio is a small 13:1. Concordia is also in the top tier of Midwest Regional Colleges according to U.S. News and World Report.
At Concordia, the students, faculty, and staff go out of their way to make sure that international students feel at home during their stay in the US. The university offers several organisations that allow overseas students to connect with American students, as well as other international students. They organise weekly lunches and excursions through their CHAT (Conversations Happen All the Time) forum. The university recognises that it is not only important for students to integrate into their surroundings, but also remain close to their cultural customs. Therefore, they offer numerous international student organisations such as the Asian Culture Club, Ni Hao Chinese Club, and Saudi Students Club. These groups are primarily led by fellow international students, but are open to all students.
International students interested in applying to Concordia will want to take note of their special Intensive English Language Program. This program is designed for students who want to improve their English skills for university study. The course is conducted by an English language teacher who gives personal attention to students to help them with their English reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Surrounded by native English speakers, overseas students will not only be formally instructed in English, but will be given opportunities to experience American culture through special activities outside of the classroom.
Boasting a 98% placement rate of students in jobs, or graduate school following graduation, Concordia is always invested in students’ academic progress and success. In this regard, CUNE houses a dedicated Learning Resource Center (LRC) which is available to all students who need help in a particular class. The LRC has many components such as the Writing Center, where students receive individual advice and guidance on writing papers for their classes. It also provides supplemental instruction in the form of study sessions for especially difficult classes in various fields of study.
It can be challenging for any student to familiarise themselves with a university’s processes and procedures. Understanding this, Concordia University assigns a personal advisor to each student at the beginning of their first semester to help them make decisions about which classes to take, and when to take them. In addition to this, the Concordia International Center (CIC) specifically handles information and issues pertaining directly to international students, such as visa requirements and housing options.
With 11 countries represented at Concordia University - Nebraska, the administration is eager to welcome new students from around the world and help them get settled into their new lives at the university.
