Curricular Practical Training

Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is a temporary employment authorization that allows F-1 students (International Students) to gain practical experience directly related to their major field of study. This hands-on experience could be through an internship, off-campus employment, or a cooperative program that is directly related to the student’s program of study. There are part-time and full-time CPTs and they are specific to an employer. The CPT program is not offered at all higher institutions; however, Steven-Henager encourages and practices the initiative as it offers international students an avenue for employment during their academic program.
