Welcome To Vermont
Saint Michael’s College (SMC) is located in the city of Colchester in the beautiful state of Vermont in the United States. Colchester is a suburb of Burlington, the most populated city in Vermont, and it is situated on the picturesque Lake Champlain surrounded by wondrous views of The Green Mountains.
With shops, music, restaurants and night spots abound, Burlington has been named by Travel & Leisure Magazine as one of the top college towns in America. The vibrant city attracts over 14,000 college students a year. The area also has many opportunities for outdoor adventure such as hiking, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, fishing and much more.
Multicultural and Inclusive
Saint Michael’s College is a diverse and inclusive campus that includes many international students. The faculty and staff understand the challenges that overseas students face when they move away from home, and they dedicate themselves to making the transition easier. From the first day at International Student Orientation, students are shown around campus and given information on services, academics, student life, housing, banking, immigration and more.
SMC is also one of 280 institutions in the US that is home to a chapter of the country’s oldest honor society, Phi Beta Kappa.
To discover new perspectives, traditions, and ideas is an important part of attending Saint Michael’s. The community celebrates diversity and creates a warm, inviting environment, for not only all racial and ethnic identities, but also gender, age, religion, language, ability/disability, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, military service, geographic origin, and first-generation/multi-generation college experiences.
Receive Support from Faculty & Staff- A Helping Community
The dedicated faculty and staff and 2,000 strong student body form a close-knit community at Saint Michael’s College. The school wants to engage students in ideas and disciplines that will help them have a better understanding of the world around them. The college nurtures curiosity, passion, and socially responsible actions.
Saint Michael’s faculty and staff are caring and thoughtful - they are truly interested in what their students learn and how they learn. The small student to faculty ratio of 12:1 reflects that there is no need for students to fear getting lost in the crowd – each student will get personalised attention. Also, every course is taught by a professor, not a teaching assistant. The professor's mentor the students through their years at the college; they nurture their aspirations, challenge them academically, and also help them decide what they want to do with their future professional lives.
The SMC community believes in working together to make the world a better, cleaner, kinder, and safer place. The importance of service and volunteer opportunities are not lost at SMC, in fact, over 70% of Saint Michael’s student body participates in service-oriented activities. Service to the community and to the world is a huge part of Saint Michael’s vision and philosophy.
