Students can also easily travel to Chicago via bus or train to marvel at the vibrant city and all it has to offer. From food, art, theatres and museums, to sporting events, shopping and night clubs, Chicago gives Valpo students an ideal exposure to American big city life.

At Your Service

Service to the university and the local community is actively observed by all students to demonstrate their commitment to the public good. Each student logs more than 55 hours of community service each year – totalling more than 220,000 hours of community outreach and service learning. Their efforts do not go unnoticed and Valpo has received recognition on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for their students’ contributions to society.

The Valpo community serves organisations such as Habitat for Humanity, Rebuilding the Dunes, Porter County Girl Scouts and Thrivent Financial Food Packing campaigns. Valpo’s Institute for Leadership and Service is dedicated to equipping students with the skills to connect academics, service and their long-term aspirations. The university also works in tandem with many other organisations, locally and globally, to provide opportunities to students to volunteer their time and efforts for the greater community.
